Get involved with Right to Repair

Posted By Jen Newberg, Wednesday, January 29, 2020

**From our Partners at MN Right to Repair Coalition**

In the 1st half of the biennial session, the MN Right to Repair Coalition advanced Digital Fair Repair bill (HF 1138/SF 1077) to the floor of the MN House of Reps, but it didn't get a vote.

That means there's work to do in 2020 if we want to:

1) get a vote from the full House of Reps and
2) move Right to Repair in the Senate. Join to learn how you can support this important effort.

**From our Partners at MN Right to Repair Coalition**

Here's a brief summary of our call with next steps:
• Right now, HF 1138 has returned to the MN House Judiciary Committee, which will have to reconsider it before it's ready for a floor vote. We'll need to spend time this session talking to the bill's supporters to make sure they're still strongly in favor, but also contacting as many legislators as possible to drive up support within the DFL and Republican caucuses.
• Members of our coalition are meeting with our House bill author Rep. Peter Fischer on Thursday (2/6). We'll be talking about our strategy this session -- so we'll know more about what we need to move this forward after that meeting. We're also putting together a media plan for the year, with ways you or your org's volunteers/staff can help.
• In the meantime, please feel free to circulate's widget that allows folks to 1) share your repair story and 2) contact your legislators.

As always, reach out to me if you have any questions, want me to connect you with anyone else in the coalition, or have potentially useful tactics/strategies in mind!
