ALEX BALDWIN (he/him)
Better Futures Minnesota

Alex's passion for reuse began in his early twenties, restoring historic houses in Baltimore using authentic and true-to-era finishes. In 2013, he moved to MN and joined Junket: Tossed & Found, a retail store dedicated to secondhand, reclaimed, and upcycled goods. Alex's love for reuse continued through his work at Better Futures Minnesota, a nonprofit organization that provides employment opportunities for men reentering society from incarceration while also promoting environmentally responsible initiatives.

For Alex, it has been exciting to witness the growth of deconstruction in Minnesota, and in 2019 he became a Build Reuse Certified Deconstruction Trainer. Currently serving as the Waste Diversion Manager at BFM, Alex supports their deconstruction work, Reuse warehouse, and partnerships with Transfer stations throughout the state.

In his free time, Alex enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing, golfing, and spending time on the water. His latest project is restoring a tiny sailboat that was salvaged from a deconstruction project.

Reuse Minnesota was founded in 2012 and is a member-based nonprofit that supports repair, resale, and rental businesses, bringing visibility to the reuse sector as a means to lower our state's impact on the environment.
