Building materials collection event

Do you have extra materials from your latest building or remodeling project? Donate your new or gently used materials for reuse by our nonprofit partner, Better Futures Minnesota! This event is open to all Dakota County residents only.

Accepted Materials (in good condition, without nails):

  • Cabinetry - bath vanities & kitchen cabinets, cabinet doors
  • Countertops - laminate and stone (straight sections only; no peeling, deep scratches, burn marks or excessive caulking)
  • Doors - interior (solid wood, no hollow core) and exterior (metal)
  • Flooring - hardwood (new and used) and laminate (new only)
  • Grout, mudding - new, unopened containers only
  • Hardware - handles, pulls, hinges
  • Tiles - new, full boxes only
  • Working light fixtures - no shiny brass, no light bulbs
  • Lumber - 4 foot minimum length, denailed
  • Nails, screws - no rust, in original box/container (no jars or glass)
  • Plumbing fixtures - faucets
  • Windows - unbroken only, no mold or water damage
We reserve the right to refuse any material that is unsellable by Better Futures. Information on other methods of disposal will be provided by request.

Better Futures Minnesota operates a ReUse Warehouse Store in Minneapolis where you can save money on salvaged building materials and supplies, support Better Futures’ social enterprise mission, and protect the environment through reuse. For more information check out www.betterfuturesminnesota.com
