Reuse Minnesota is expanding its efforts to reduce waste and build community skills by offering free technical assistance to organizations interested in planning and hosting Fix-It Clinics. A Fix-It Clinic is a free community event where volunteers help people repair broken household items like clothing, lamps, or small appliances to save money and reduce waste.
Reuse Minnesota currently has funding through the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency’s reuse and waste reduction grant program to help launch Fix-It Clinics throughout Greater Minnesota. These community-driven events empower residents to repair broken household items, reduce waste, and share valuable repair skills.
Over the past year and a half, Reuse Minnesota has successfully partnered with organizations across the state, including Chisago County, Dodge County, Olmsted County, Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Management, and the Stearns History Museum, to establish and sustain Fix-It Clinics in their communities.
Building on this success, Reuse Minnesota is now offering free technical assistance and consulting services to cities, counties, nonprofits, businesses, and community groups interested in hosting their own events.
Reuse Minnesota provides tailored support to meet organizations at any stage of planning. Services include assistance with volunteer recruitment strategies, communications and outreach, venue selection, event logistics, supply recommendations, and more.
Organizations interested in launching a Fix-It Clinic are encouraged to contact Reuse Minnesota to schedule a consultation.
