For the seventh year, Reuse Minnesota brought the reuse community together for its annual REUSE Conference. Held on October 28 at Hennepin Technical College (HTC) in Brooklyn Park, REUSE26 welcomed 207 reuse enthusiasts, industry professionals, business owners, community leaders, and government representatives for a full day of learning, sharing, and connecting.

The conference featured 19 breakout sessions and an interactive plenary, providing attendees with opportunities to learn something new and exchange ideas. Session topics covered a wide range of subjects, from highlighting waste reduction and reuse in local communities to turning community challenges into opportunities and conducting hands-on repairability audits of modern apparel.

During the afternoon plenary, attendees joined small-group discussions to brainstorm strategies and partnerships that can help move reuse forward. Together, they explorePlenary session speakers: Mac S., Katie D., and Hannah J.d ways to build reuse systems that deliver environmental, economic, and community benefits while ensuring everyone has an opportunity to participate.

Learning, connecting, and enjoying the day

Lunch was a highlight for many! HTC culinary students prepared a delicious spread for attendees, featuring cider-glazed root vegetables, mushroom and onion tarts, roast beef with gravy, and carrot cake. A big thank-you to the students for helping make lunchtime special!

Outside of the conference sessions, there was plenty for attendees to do. Attendees had the chance to visit 19 exhibitors, browse the silent auction, participate in the book swap, and drop off donation items with some of our exhibitors. The day wrapped up with a casual social hour, giving everyone time to relax, catch up with new connections, and keep the conversations going.

Continuing the conference with Community Impact Site Visits

The fun continued on October 29 with community impact site visits. Reuse Minnesota members Alta Technologies, Art Start, Architectural Antiques, Cool Trash, and Curiosity Studio welcomed groups of attendees to their locations. These visits offered a behind-the-scenes look at each organization's work, mission, and unique contributions to the reuse community.

Thank you for making REUSE26 a success!

A big thank-you to all of our sponsors, exhibitors, presenters, volunteers, and attendees who helped make REUSE26 such a great event! We couldn't do it without the many people and organizations who show up, share their knowledge, and work every day to strengthen Minnesota's reuse community. Attendees chat with representatives from Ramsey/Washington Recycling & Energy, a conference sponsor.
